Tanya Payan (she/her) is a third-year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology M.A. program at California State University, Dominguez Hills, on the LPCC pathway. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and graduated Cum Laude in 2021 from CSUDH. Tanya is an intervention teacher for the Compton Unified School District, providing support for K-5 students with behavioral challenges and learning difficulties.

Tanya’s research interests include childhood adversities, resilience, generational trauma, and developmental psychology. She aspires to pursue her licensure to become a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor to work with underrepresented communities, especially Latinx, undocumented, and non-English speaking populations. Tanya is a first-generation Mexican-American from immigrant parents. Therefore, she is invested in giving back to her community.

Her long-term goals include pursuing a doctorate and becoming a university professor, as she enjoys teaching and mentoring other students. Outside of her academic and research activities, Tanya enjoys traveling, exercising, contemplating sunsets at the beach, and spending quality time with her family.
